More Than a Numbers Game: A Brief History of Accounting (Fintwit Book Club Podcast January 2025)

I’ve mentioned this a few times, but my friend Byrne Hobart of the diff and I are thinking about launching a monthly finance book club podcast.

I believe we’re both very open to suggestions on format, but our current thoughts is each month we’d announce a book, readers could read along with us and submit thoughts / questions, and then we would record a pod just riff’ing on each other and discussing the book, thoughts, questions, etc.

We recorded a sample podcast on More Than a Numbers Game: A Brief History of Accounting earlier this week (I also wrote down some other thoughts here if interested). I think the sample shows nicely what the podcast can do as we weave back and forth between the book, historical market facts, and implications for modern markets….

I threw the sample podcast up as an unedited bonus podcast; I think you’ll enjoy it if you take a listen, and we would be very open to ideas and suggestions for improvements to the format / structure as we try to evolve.
